Cancer, Capricorn and Karma

Although I mentioned Notre Dame in the previous post, I felt guided to share more insights related to it and other big institutions. To recap:

Last July 2018 we began the Cancer/Capricorn eclipse cycle, with a Solar Eclipse in Cancer on July 13th. Saturn, the Lord of Karma, triggered that eclipse point for a whopping SIX WEEKS between April and May 2019! And as if THAT weren’t enough, Pluto and the very karmic South Node of the moon joined him (see previous blog post). This is a lineup that hasn’t been seen in nearly 800 years.

Big bada boom, unprecedented levels of corruption revealed from all things Capricorn: government, corporations, long-standing institutions and people at the highest levels of power. Although Trump and the White House has been at the epicenter of this maelstrom, it’s also getting played out on many other history-making fronts:

Boy Scouts - Like the Vatican, the Boy Scouts of America are covered in pedophilia scandals that could bury them in bankruptcy. Heck, Pluto rules burial and bankruptcy ….
Numbers of victims are in the tens of thousands, and oddly enough, both institutions kept secret records of abusers going back to the early 1940’s.

Vatican - The New York Archdiocese, the largest network of Catholic churches in the U.S., releases a list of 120 priests 'credibly accused' of child sex abuse:

Columbus Day - Maine, along with Alaska, New Mexico, South Dakota and Vermont, drops Columbus Day and re-names it Indigenous People’s Day.

But the biggest visual metaphor thus far was April’s fire that consumed Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Second only to the St. Peter’s Basilica in terms of seats of power, Notre Dame was built during the time of the the Crusades and the Catholic Church’s consolidation of power.

I found this photo rather telling. The fireman’s helmet oddly resembles a medieval Crusades helmet.

With flames everywhere, I couldn’t help but see the irony. This same institution that for hundreds of years massacred Muslims and others considered heretics was itself on fire, 800 years after it was built and the Crusades launched. Oddly enough, the Al-Aqsa mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the third-holiest shrine in Islam, caught fire at the exact same time.

While the cathedral’s roof burned, the renovation scaffolding surrounding the building did as well. People gathered in prayer watching the spectacle.

It wasn’t the first time people gathered near scaffolding at Notre Dame to watch fire and grisly spectacles. A few hundred feet from the cathedral’s front door lays a stone commemorating the martyrdom of Jacques de Molay, the last Knights Templar, in 1314. That’s when the Church erected a scaffold in front of the square and burned him to death. Saturn, Pluto and the South Node is a heavy dose of ancestral karma.

Inside of these profound societal changes, what mindset do we cultivate? There’s a lot of shadow work for us individually and collectively to do. Let’s start with compassion. Compassion for self and for others. Keeping our focus over the next year on compassion, we heal ancestral karma and move into a new chapter in our evolution..
