Whatta Year! Part Two
The two other biggie deals this year were big-boy Jupiter’s transit through Scorpio, and the arrival of Uranus in Taurus for an eight year run!
JUPITER IN SCORPIO
As if ten years of shadowy Pluto in Capricorn weren’t showing society’s dark side enough, along comes Jupiter, the planet which rules news media and publishing, in Scorpio, the sign which Pluto rules. Oy vey! Jupiter is the planet of expansion, opportunity and abundance; it turns up the volume on whatever sign it’s in. Talk about the Shadow on steroids!
The sextile (powerful aspect) Jupiter made with Pluto in Capricorn (Capricorn ruling government, society and those in high places) and Neptune in Pisces (Pisces ruling, on the low end, deception and fraud) revealed systemic abuses of sex and power (Scorpio) that spanned generations (Capricorn).
The #MeToo movement maintained its momentum with Harvey Weinstein’s arraignment on rape charges, as well as former CBS CEO Les Moonves’ dismissal following multiple sexual assault allegations. CBS also denied Moonves $120 million in severance pay (Scorpio rules inheritances and business finances!).
Ronan Farrow, writing for The New Yorker, along with Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor writing a separate exposé for The New York Times, won journalism’s highest honor — the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service — for their reporting of the Weinstein scandal.
In another victory for #MeToo, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford testified against the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court with her own account of attempted rape and sexual abuse going back decades.
In doing so she inspired women of every class and social strata to continue a long-overdue process of facing their deepest fears and traumas of sexual harassment and abuse. As a result, women are reinventing and regenerating themselves as they reclaim their power from the deepest core of their being — the high road of Scorpio!
URANUS IN TAURUS
Uranus, the planet of sudden change, rebellion, upheaval and liberation entered the sign of Taurus in May 2018 for the first time in 84 years. The Great Disruptor will challenge our comfort zone, personal possessions and where we’ve been stuck. It was the biggest astro news of 2018, and will impact our homes, the environment (Kilauea, anyone?), finances, credit cards, student loans, banks, the stock market, Bitcoin, computers, technology and the food supply over the next eight years, inspiring us to create innovative, future-oriented solutions which benefit humanity. Oligarchs, please type your resume.
In astrology, the qualities of the planets are the very archetypes they represent. Uranus is the only planet which spins on its side - really!
It wants you to be free from convention. Wherever we are enslaved, Uranus will wake up/shake up/break up.
When it entered Taurus mid-May, the Kilauea volcano erupted … and erupted … and erupted. (Taurus is an earth sign, and tends to plod on slow and steady.) The earth changes Uranus brings are typically eruptions, earthquakes and even asteroids. Sometimes it takes something drastic to wake us up and re-evaluate what’s important.
